Respiratory syncytial virus(RSV) affects the lungs of children two years of age.Mostly, the symptoms are relatively same compared to common cold. But for preemies and children who have a barely less immune system, a congenital heart condition or chronic lung disease can be affected fast, causing either bronchiolitis obliterans or pneumonia.According to Disease Control and Prevention Organization nearly 1400,000 kids a year are hospitalized due to RSV.Immediately contact the pediatrician if the child is wheezing, breathing very fast, or struggling to breathe, refuses to foods, seriously lethargic or starting to develop a bluish tinge in lips and mouth.
